"Women of Character, Courage & Commitment"
The Lake County Women's Coalition will celebrate Women's History Month on Saturday, March 1, 2014. All Coalition organization members and their guests are invited to attend the Annual Brunch to be held at Brae Loch Golf Club, 33600 N. Highway 45 in Grayslake. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Cost is $10. Sponsors include: Empowerment Sponsors: Cancer Treatment Centers of America and Women's Business Network; Leadership Sponsors: Gurnee Community Bank, Right at Home, Women's Business Exchange; Making an Impact Sponsors: CHJ Consulting, Martha Colstrom, Teresa Williams, YWCA Lake County.
The theme this year is Celebrating Women of Character, Courage and Commitment. Nominees from each of our member organizations will be honored. The stories of women’s achievements are integral to the fabric of our history. Learning about Lake County women’s tenacity, courage, and creativity throughout the centuries is a tremendous source of strength. Knowing women’s stories provides essential role models for everyone. And role models are genuinely needed to face the extraordinary changes and unrelenting challenges of the 21st century.
Our keynote speaker is Barbara Joan Zeitz, MA, author of A Thesaurus of Women From Cherry Blossoms to Cell Phones. Ms. Zeitz holds a master's degree in women's studies and has convened with women nationwide and in Sweden, Spain, Africa, Japan, Belize and Mexico. Her books will be available for sale at the event.
The Women's History Month celebration is important to the mission of the Lake County Women's Coalition as it is our only fundraiser for the year to support our Scholarship fund. The scholarship awardees will be invited to attend.
Tickets are $10 each with all proceeds benefitting the Coalition's Scholarship Fund. To purchase tickets contact your Coalition Member Organization Liaison or Helen Scott at 846-336-1795.
